Unit 6 Vocabulary: Change-makers
Use eight words and phrases for action, possibility, independence, and success.
Change-makers need language for reasons, possibilities, choices, and results. Motivate means give someone a reason to act. Luck is success that happens because of chance rather than a person's actions, while an achievement is something completed successfully, especially after hard work. A person who acts on their own acts alone, without help. If someone is allowed to do something, they have permission or freedom to do it. An opportunity is a chance for progress. Expect means believe that something will happen. A person who is open to something is ready to accept something new.

- 6Use expect to + base verb when someone believes that an event will happen.
- 7Use be open to + noun or idea when someone is ready to accept something new.
